Choosing the Correct Grit
24 grit provides the most aggressive cutting action in this range and is intended for demanding initial sanding, heavy coating removal and badly worn floors. Grits 36 and 40 are suitable for conventional coarse sanding and removal of old finishes.
After the initial cut, 60 grit can be used to refine the deeper scratch pattern, followed by 80, 100 or 120 grit where progressively finer surface preparation is required.
Avoid excessive jumps between grit sizes. A controlled sanding sequence helps remove scratches from the previous stage and produces a more consistent surface before the selected primer, oil or lacquer system is applied.
Antistatic Abrasive Construction
The antistatic construction is designed for professional sanding environments where effective dust management is important. For best results, use the belt together with a correctly maintained sanding machine and suitable dust extraction system.
FAQs
What size is the Bona 8300 Blue Zircon Belt?
This version measures 200mm wide by 750mm long.
Which grits are available?
Choose from 24, 36, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 grit.
What is 24 grit used for?
24 grit provides very aggressive cutting and is suitable for heavy coating removal, badly worn timber and demanding initial sanding.
What is the difference between zirconia and ceramic abrasives?
Both are high-performance abrasive technologies. Zirconia provides strong cutting performance and durability for professional floor sanding, while ceramic abrasives are generally selected where particularly aggressive cutting and sustained performance are required.
Will this belt fit every Bona belt sander?
No. This product measures 200 x 750mm and should only be used with machines designed for that belt size. Always check the machine specification before ordering.
Should I use several grits during sanding?
Yes. Progressing through suitable grit stages helps remove the scratch pattern from the previous abrasive and produces a more uniform surface before finishing.
