Choosing the Correct Grit
24 grit provides the most aggressive cutting action in this range and is suited to demanding initial sanding, heavy coating removal and badly worn floors. 36 and 40 grit provide coarse cutting for conventional renovation and removal of existing finishes.
60 grit is used to progressively refine the deeper scratch pattern left by coarse abrasives, followed by 80 and 100 grit where finer surface preparation is required.
For professional results, avoid excessive jumps between abrasive grades. Each sanding stage should progressively remove the scratch pattern created by the previous grit before moving to a finer abrasive.
250mm Professional Sanding Format
The wider 250mm belt provides a substantial sanding area for compatible professional machines, making it particularly useful on larger floors and demanding renovation projects where productivity and consistent material removal are important.
Antistatic Abrasive Construction
The antistatic construction is designed for professional sanding environments where effective dust management is important. For optimum performance, use the abrasive with a correctly maintained sanding machine and an appropriate professional dust extraction system.
FAQs
What size is the Bona 8300 Blue Zircon Belt?
This version measures 250mm wide by 750mm long (approximately 10″ wide).
Which grits are available?
Choose from 24, 36, 40, 60, 80 and 100 grit.
What is 24 grit used for?
24 grit provides very aggressive cutting for heavy coating removal, badly worn timber and demanding initial sanding.
Which grit should I use after coarse sanding?
The correct sequence depends on the floor, but progressively moving through intermediate grades such as 60 and 80 helps remove coarse sanding scratches before finer preparation.
Will this belt fit a 200 x 750mm sanding machine?
No. This version is 250 x 750mm and must be used with a compatible machine designed for 250mm-wide belts.
