Pine Floorboard Slivers – 6mm x 1m or 8mm x 1m

Available in packs of 100

Pine Floorboard Slivers are solid timber repair strips designed for filling larger gaps between traditional wooden floorboards. Available in 6mm and 8mm widths, they provide a durable and natural alternative to conventional gap fillers when restoring pine and other compatible timber floors.

The slivers are inserted into gaps between floorboards using a suitable wood flooring adhesive. Once the adhesive has cured, the excess timber can be trimmed and sanded flush with the surrounding floor. Because the repair is made using real timber, the finished result can be sanded and finished together with the existing boards for a much more natural appearance.

Why Use Timber Slivers?

Older floorboards frequently develop gaps as the timber naturally moves and dries over time. Small gaps can sometimes be treated with conventional floor fillers, but wider gaps require a repair capable of accommodating considerably more space.

Timber slivers physically fill the gap with solid wood rather than relying on a thick layer of filler. Once glued, trimmed and sanded, they become part of the repaired floor and provide a durable solution suitable for subsequent sanding and refinishing.

Important Note

Floorboard gaps are rarely perfectly uniform. Measure the gaps before ordering and select the most appropriate sliver size. The timber may require trimming or adjustment during installation to achieve the best fit.

As pine is a natural material, variations in colour, grain and appearance should be expected. The repaired areas may also absorb stains, oils and other finishes differently from the existing aged floorboards.

FAQs

What are pine floorboard slivers used for?
They are used to fill larger gaps between traditional wooden floorboards during restoration and renovation.

Should I choose 6mm or 8mm?
Choose the size according to the width of the gaps in the floor. Because old floorboard gaps can vary, measure several areas before ordering.

How are the slivers installed?
They are glued into the gaps, allowed to cure, trimmed down and then sanded flush with the surrounding floor.

Can the slivers be sanded?
Yes. Once securely installed, they can be sanded together with the rest of the wooden floor.

Can they be stained or oiled?
Yes. As real timber, they can be finished along with the surrounding floor, although natural differences in colour and absorption may remain.

Are timber slivers better than wood filler?
For larger floorboard gaps, timber slivers generally provide a more substantial physical repair than filling the entire gap with conventional filler.
